[IMC-Tech] Urgent need for server or debian vhost.

Perth has a problem.

For the past 3 years, Yagan, perth indys webserver has been hosted free of
charge by the murdoch university student union. The webserver hosts about
25 websites, many of which are just little blogs, but some are rather
important activist sites (namely perth & manila indy, project safecom, the
black dove collective, and some smaller fluffy groups like "Freinds of
fremantle" and a bunch of minor rad enviro groups.)

Theres also a bunch of email lists, all of whom are activist oriented.

What has happened is the student union, who I was the staff IT admin, has
suffered a rather hostile taken over by the youth wing of a somewhat
conservative major politcal party, who has proceeded to fire all the key
staff (such as myself alas. speak to me on IRC for the full bitterness of
this) and are seemingly eliminating any sort of activist involvement the
guild has. And now I've been told to get rid of the perth indymedia
server. The wreckers.

Perth indymedia was something set up by murdoch university students from
the campus media club, and its a bloody shame that the guild wants to get
rid of it.

So we need help, with either (preferably) a server in a rack somewhere, or
failing that a debian vhost somewhere. Preferably with affordably
bandwidth. The bandwidth costs for us are not too bad considering
australia has outrageous bandwidth costs generally.

Our current server is a pentium 800, with 256 meg of ram and a 20gig hard
drive that is nearly full. We used to have a p100 with 64meg and a 4gig
hard drive, that worked quite well. Yay for debian!

So if anyone has a way to help us, we'd really apreciate it. These are
desparate times for perth indymedia. We have a vibrant, although small,
collective but are under unfortunate circumstance.

Shayne.
