[IMC-Tech] Spam attack! Help with dadaIMC

Jesus Christ, I fucking hate spammers. I never thought that the biggest
threat to the open Internet would be spammers, not government or
corporation censorship. It seems that I'm paying for the mistake of
using free software for so many of my projects--the comment spammers are
a constant headache and I can't make any headway on projects.

Does anybody know if the current version of dadaIMC has any anti-spam
features? The Kansas City Indymedia website is being splogged right
now--we'e getting around 20 spams/hour. I know that the software needs
to be upgraded, but I haven't had any time. I'm going to ask another of
our techies to do an upgrade with Stefani.

I have a request for those of you who write free software. Can you
please add a few tweaks to the software so some of us can mass delete
spam comments easier? WordPress does this the right way. The version of
dadaIMC we're using requires mutliple steps to delete spam comments. You
can only flag a maximum of ten comments and the flagging requires 10
clicks. Whenever you list a bunch of records in a database and provide
checkboxes, please add a feature so an admin can "select all." Even
better would be a feature where you could toggle how many records are
displayed on a page.

Thanks.

Grumpy rad geek,

Chuck Munson
