There already -is- a project doing that. And, since you haven't known
anything about the imc-cms group or the experiences we've had in 9 years
of running IMC servers, I would be interested in finding out
how the "super functional CMS" you're talking about would deal with law
enforcement server seizures? Sudden losses of individual servers?
Distribution of data? Has anyone in your project been involved in
running any number of IMC servers for any amount of time? Is there
anywhere that people can -get- information about your project and how it
plans to deal with these problems? Or any of the other *truly-needed*
features out of a new IMC CMS?

I find the "we're doing this for the Third World!" to be completely
disingenuous. The imc-cms group came out of meetings held in São Paulo,
Brazil and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and included people from all over the
Global South. These folks have been active participants in the imc-cms
group for 3 years now and all of our face-to-face meetings have actually
been -held- in those countries.

Since you have said that "-if- you get the money, -you- would have to
decide how to use it" ... I would repeat again: if there is money
awarded to a group who is inappropriately portraying itself as
Indymedia, that money should immediately go to imc-finance. The fact
that you have never even heard of imc-finance or imc-cms makes me wonder
if you are even really a participant in the IMC global network. -ryan
