I've started to sum things up a little over here:

https://we.riseup.net/indymedia/stocktaking2012

Please add to this page, complete information, correct my and others'
mistakes.

I've tried to setup write access for any local indymedia groups i could
find on we.riseup.net (I think this means their members inherit the
write permission), but many of you will not be a member of these local
indymedia groups i added and can thus not edit this document. Please let
me know you account names so I can add write permissions for you there.
There doesn't seem to be a way to have public write access unfortunately
(probably a spam prevention measure). I was thinking of using an
Etherpad alternatively, but the Riseup one deletes content after 30 days
without use and other store IP addresses. So this is a compromise. Other
suggestions welcome.

It sure could. There's lots of options to choose from. ;-)

I could not agree more, and am happy to help with the cleanup part. The
broken process will need to be reinitiated by someone else, if anyone is
still interested in it, though. In the meantime it might be good to take
down the newimc site at http://newimc.indymedia.org and to put a note up
at http://lists.indymedia.org/imc-process about the state of things.
