Hello people and fellow activists,

I am writing this email so as to introduce myself, as i was asked to
since i joined the listwork team.

I am an activist from Greece, currenlty involved in Athens IMC. I am
available in IRC's various channels using JollyRoger as nickname.

This is a sad time because we've witnessed some people resigning from
the Network for various reasons. I dont have the power to change their
minds and mailing lists are not the best way to, nonetheless i want to
thank them for their contribution all these years. I am not that old in
here but i'm aware of the work they offered and the Indymedia will
surely loose things from their absence.

Apart from mcp's resignation, the following ones showed that there was a
gradual slowing down of the procedures of the Network, the participation
in workgroups, the active local IMC's, the interest and certainly the
inter-IMCs process. All these wear off both individuals and groups or
collectives. And here we are. Most working groups are abandonned and
many IMCs which are still active are not aware of the situation.

Some conflicts of the past, such as the UK situation have certainly very
bad effects on the whole Network. My opinion is that the UK situation
wasnt handled the right way, and i kind self-criticize for this.

Anyway, maybe thats an opportunity to pull some things back together
(https://we.riseup.net/indymedia/stocktaking2012) and revive these parts
of the Network thats seems essential to back up the remaining runnning
IMCs (https://we.riseup.net/indymedia/imc-local-sites-2012) and anyone
else wanting to be a grassroot media activist and express through the
Network.

As i've written in previous email
(https://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/listwork/2012-January/0202-43.html)
listwork is an important part of the infrastructure and even before the
recents resignations i wanted to participate and back it up.

Thanks to alster i have the opportunity to do that, although i'll need
some self-education and possibly ask a ton of questions to activists who
know stuff. Of course the listwork doesnt fit one person and i
definately am not that skilled.

Thats all for now,
solidarity and greetings
JollyRoger
