So, I'm going to e-mail Gary tomorrow about the Churchill talk transcribing, unless somebody in TBay wants to take this on. I'd really prefer someone in TBay doing this, if not for the fact that I think it's kind of weird doing TBay IMC stuff here in England, then for the simple reason that I've got a bazillion other things to do. Having said that, I'll do it if nobody else is willing.

So, you've got about 24 hours to speak up if you'd like to transcribe a Ward Churchill talk.

Shit guys, i was thinking the same thing. Just the kinda project I would
love to take on to feel connected to the North again. I didn't want to
mail the whole list about this... Another "ooh I'd do it BUT..." And you
guys beat me to it ~ if Gary is willing to mail it over seas than i guess
we'll have to fight for it. Good news about the quasi re-surge on the ole
IMC homefront eh? Buy Nothing Day and a used goods table swap... aahh I
can smell the fair trade coffee wafting from the Study right now. Missing
some good beans over here, all we get is prepackaged, individual
coffee-sized, cream/sugar added, tubes of insta-coffee. Either that or
Aaron's fave, cold coffee in a can. Yuk. Missing the beans of the bay,
probably good to have a break though. That Churchill transcibing sure
sounds like fun though. I really hope someone picks it up. Who's left
anyway?

Well, just finished teaching 30 kids ranging in grades from 3-6 in ONE
CLASS, it's my longest class... 1hour & a half compared to the usual 40
minutes I usually teach. I actually had to do the two fingered whistle to
get them to settle down. Sure I'm learning alot from this experience...
like never to have kids! hahaha

Actually yesterday I had a class with a co-teacher who's really interested
in my opinions. She's a vegetarian (in S.Korea!!), she's WOOFed in
Australia, and won't eat the cafeteria food "cause they put additives". I
was telling her about hunting and sharing moose meat, living in Thebay off
the land style. She asked about my own choices and spirituality. The
kids came in (grade 6) and instead of opening the textbook she just kept
asking me questions about religion. I said how I had no religion but
found myself to be a healthy spiritual being. I told them I was
interested in learning about all the worlds religions. The big mistake
religions make is that they think they're the Right One or the Only one,
but how can that be when there are so many of them? I got into a whole
thing about no place for leaders in spiritual matters, and having your own
personal relationship with "god", that no one/church can guide you to your
own spirituality. Some of the kids started to get upset. This is a very
religious society, apparently. Mostly Buddhists, than Catholic, and so
on. I'm sure one boy was calling me a heathen, and another girl almost
started crying. But I was relentless and went on. Being with yourself in
your own body/mind as you would a church. Honouring your choices, and
your inner voice as you would a preacher. Listening to the natural world
around you as you would a gospel. It really scared some, but I think
others were interested. The teacher sure was, she said "I have no
religion. I think like you. Are there others in Canada who think like
this?"
Whoa. sorry guys, didn't realize that was coming out for you. Take it or
leave it ~ just as they did.

So, I hope all's well in England D2. Nate and I actually think we might
take you up on your spare bedroom offer sometime before we're done all
this. Don't worry, we know the old saying, "cheese and houseguests start
to smell bad after 3 days"
And Park, I guess we'll see you this weekend. Wanna hike Woraksan and
find that hot springs at the top? Nate ixnayed the trip to Seoul idea.
Okay, love you guys.
Seija.
