comunicates.
Attivists have no intention to commissioning the comunication mission -
fondamental resource in the fight for a more right and free society - to
corporative media, dependent to strong forces of politic and economy.
Open publishing and free partecipation are at the same time Indymedia base
principles and force points. The mission is to give voice to all the
realities and fights which don't find a space into mainstream media,
offering their a place of visibility and direct (and not mediated)
comparison.
The previous experience which had in Pedmont an Indymedia Italia node -

to report from grassroot and without factions discriminations what
happened in the cities and mountains of our region, from the NoTav fight

information experiences like radio and hacklabs, imprinting our way to
"make comunication" on the motto "Become your Media".

manner, respecting ideologic and gerne differences, to expand and develope
relations without hierarchies but in a solidal and autonomous way.

policy
Here the temporary policy.
Policy
The working group constituited to create Indymedia Piemonte and
administrate newswire has give itself this editorial policy. This one,
always included into minimal principles shared by all Indymedia network [
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Global/DocumentsTranslation ], should be
always rediscussed, whenever the group will consider it necessary. Working
group may enlarge itself by cooptation. Posts which don't respect the
following policy will not be deleted but hidden, and will be avaiable in a
several page respect the home [hidden posts page link here]. We don't
censor anything.
1. Post with razzist, sexist and fascist contents. Indymedia Piemonte
doesn't allowed also posts with links to external websites which have the
same contents: these one will be not published, too [link to updated
"black list" websites whom we not desire directed links from posts]
2. Messages which contains pubblicitary spamming are hidden, but not
deleted. In this category are included electoral spamming, parties and
institutional propaganda. Straight pubblicitary links eventually contained
into posts (viagra, mobile ring tones, hotel, parties campaign, commercial
events) will be erased and inserted into the black list to avoid future
pubblication. By the way, about the pubblishing of dates and events of any
kind, non inherent with information elaboration and sharing, we remember
that the appropriate space is the agenda [link to the agenda] on the web
site: so that link will be hidden.
3. Double or empty messages are hidden.
4. Posts can be hidden or edited under request from who have published
them: add a comment under the message you desire to modify explaining what
you want to hide or change and why.
Also out of policy posts can be signalated from users by clicking on the
xy bottom, visible over/under/nearby at every pubblished message. In this
way you may contribute and simplify administrators work on newswire.
6. Messages generated to insult or minace are hidden. Personal diatribers
and chats about movement we hope will be in appropriate places and time,
such meetings, assemblies, slaps, roughhouses or simply drinking a beer,
avoiding to make Indymedia Piemonte a gossip media. If posts contain
personal informations they will be edited following the comma 8.3 of this
policy. To advertise about a post you think has to be edited we invite you
to use the fuction listed in comma 4 of the policy.
6. Messages without any information contents are hidden.
For "no information contents" we mean posts which are only partially
included in others comma of this policy. For example can be hidden, due to
"no information contents", a message like: "I'm bored: rebellion!"
7. .. other messages, also if doubted, ambiguous, glaringly written at
Viminale or chilling are mantained in home page: we hope in a "natural"
collective answer, which clean up idiocy. And if is strictly necessary, we
ourselvesev (and everyone subscribed to mailing list) will protest with
good reason against shits posted by other people. Indymedia is mainteined
by partecipation, nor phoning to ask people to remove unliked posts,
because is more intelligent a serious reply to a post than a hiding
action.
8. Indymedia believe into making aware users about privacy guarantee,
essential for us. Privacy is anonimate right, personal information
guarantee (photos, names, addresses, phone numbers), ours and anyone owned
by who read, publish, navigate. In spite of this:
* 1) We invite anyone is reading this text and trust to these
tutelation to inform himself about how to do it, independently from
the publishing on this web site [
http://www.autistici.org/it/services/anon/index.html ].
* 2) Indymedia Piemonte does NOT register IP addresses [
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indirizzo_IP ] of anyone publish posts on
this web site, so warranting a total anonymity of who desire publish
on it. Indymedia Piemonte is involved to not diffuse any kind of
information or document which can damage anyone privacy.
*
* 3) Indymedia edit, that is substitute with xxx any sensible
information which can be inserted in posts (name, address...).
* We don't care if these infos could be avaiable in other places or
being yet public (for example published on other web sites). For
Indymedia the choise to protect anonymity is a fondamental and
political one.
*
* 4) We invite anyone publish photos or videos to do it with extreme
caution and deep respect of who is cleary included in their. The
safest way to publish this kind of material is edit (link to a howto)
ever and however faces and particular signs of people included before
publish it. Internet exists in real time and Indymedia Piemonte is not
an exception. When you publish something is very probable that it will
be soon read from police, digos, journalists of any type and also from
your uncle Sam (who should never know some things). And this happens
in real time, when you click on "publish" they potentially are yet
reading, like other thousands of people, and at the same time somebody
is yet copying your material ad diffusing it on the web (this is also
possible automaticly, with no one uman action), so avoiding any kind
of change and definitive deletion of post copies diffused in Internet.
So think before publish anything, think to protect yourself and other
people and wonder carefully if the risk is necessary. Indymedia
Piemonte has decided to not utilize any kind of censoring prevetion to
photographic material, so we ask you to be responsable when you
publish it. So we have setup an automatic system which everytime you
publish photographic material, focus on his potentially danger.
