Not sure about the debate bit - surely the newswire is just that and
not appropriate for 15 or 20 vitriolic "comments". Maybe debate about
party politics is best left the news.bbc.co.uk with their "Tell us
what you think" items.
But then I suppose it depends on who you think your readership is.
Enrager isn't - I guess - going to tolerate chit chat about the pros
and cons of the lib dems. If you think the indymedia readership is
broader than than and you don't want to alienate that "middle class`'
section then maybe there ought to be a debating/notice board area.
Debate is always going to be strange with such a wide audience.
Reference the Longbridge affair which stretches from anger with the
government through occupy the plant to "it's good rich fuckers can't
buy the cars anymore", to "good riddance, they won't be polluting the
planet with their machines from now on".
In summary I think debate's a good thing, but the trick might be to
get it off the newswire into another area.
