Some ideas on the images If photos can be auto resized to thumbs then why 
cant they be resized automaticlly to 500x333 px and the file size no greater 
than 50k that is a resonable size for both dial up and broadband and if you 
want to view the full size you click on it (just like with the thumbs) it 
also automaticly deals with the issue of un sized photos going up.
Yes I know its not a thumbnail but I aint going to entertain the idea of 
thumbs.
I think this would satisfy the photographers amongst us and the thumb people
Personally I want to see more pics and less text if i got to click back and 
forth I wont bother and when i go to a post that is 12 or 18 inches of text 
I just dont bother reading past the intro if its just everyday news, wheras 
if there are photos im much more inclined to read more.
I will look at posts that have the image icon beside them much more 
frecquently than posts with no icon beside them!
If thumbs become the norn I think alot of people will turn off I know I 
will.
Mentioned on irc last night was the idea of being able to break up the text 
with photos which is a great idea if your a nornal poster and would 
encourage more people to post imo
