hi,

long time no see ;). not sure this list still has much of a function but
there is something that definitely is a european issue. i'm sure most of
you noticed that terrible things are happening at the southern border of
the EU. african refugees are trying to cross very dangerous fences from
morocco into the spanish enclaves ceuta and melilla on the african
continent. some were shot, many wounded. a lot were deported in these
past weeks, some were left in the sahara desert to die.

indymedia estrecho is doing excellent reporting, and there were quite a
few protest actions in some EU countries.

i find it hard to find out what is happening where and i think some
co-ordination would do us all good.

i saw reporting also on the imc austria page, and some on imc athens,
there is quite a bit on imc germany. none of this is in english as far
as i can tell.

so what i suggest is coordination in translating things, maybe a better
way to collect reports via this list? it's not so easy to find articles
in languages you don't speak, athens was a particular challenge ;).

i'd like to urge everyone to think about doing a little more reporting
about the issue also to mobilise actions in as many countries and cities
as possible. apparently there is also a "europen caravan for the rights
of migrants and for the freedom of movement to go to Ceuta and to do
interviews, meetings, demos, and actions in the camps" going to take
place probably on one of the follwing weekends and there will be a need
for independent journalists. whoever has time please be prepared! if you
are interested please say so because the date will also depend on when
people can join.
