Hi all,

335158 promoted: background on noborder activism in the UK in connection
with global day of action.
335137 ben - promote. major campaign, call for action. not just an event
post

So the contents from the feature proposal from Michael Bakunin have been
posted and promoted on the newswire.
But I'd still propose to put a feature on the UK mid column (and
migration) before the noborder gathering takes place. There has been a
lot of "new" noborder activism in the UK over the last year. Many of the
newly formed noborder groups are locally active and also connected to
wider (european or worldwide) noborder networks. The activities of these
groups are incredibly wide - from classic detainee support (visiting
people in detention camps, finding medical and legal support, liaising,
"being a person who cares") to direct action, from lobbying (email and
fax campaings etc) to focussing specific institutions of the border
regime like the IOM.
Noborder groups in the UK are also starting to set up their own
communication channels and networks, online and offline.

In my view, the noborder gathering in London is only a small part of all
these on-the -ground activities. We don't have an overview feature about
these recent developments of UK-based no-border activism. But a number
of event- or campaign focussed migration features.

I would like to re-formulate Michael Bakunins proposal: Let's write a
feature on noborders activism in the UK, which includes the gathering,
details of the groups, the harmondworth campaign, and the global day of
action in april, and use the links we have already.
I am working on it - does anyone want to join in?

we could then catch up with a report feature specifically about the
gathering.

best
