Hello everybody,

You've probably seen that there are a few new functions related to the imc uk
website. Our good old timeline is now done on a new application called
"ticker", which was first used at the g8 on indymedia germany. This "ticker"
can be checked on the web, obviously, but pp can also receive it on SMS (see
lordrichs post), and the "blasted campers info line".

An intro on how to use the ticker (i.e. make timeline entries via the ticker)
is
on
http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/UkAdminTickerHowto

Sorry if i'm telling you things that everybody knows anyway. I haven't been
very
good at checking lists recently.

Maybe some more info on the climate camp reporting. All incoming info goes on
the ticker, or appears on the newswire. From these sources, the startpage
special is continuously - more or less - updated. Every evening, we write a
roundup of the day.

All climate camp related features appear on the climate camp 2007 topic page.
We
are not sure wether or not to put them all on the startpage.
As a compromise, I would propose to only display the most recent feature on the
uk startpage, in addition to the startpage special, and untick it if a new
feature is ready.

If I get round to it, i'll do a summary of the first four or five days for the
startpage, with links to all the other roundups. Or maybe somebody else is up
for this? it could be a short abstract and a long text underneath...

What are peoples opinions? is it confusing if features appear on the
startpage, then disappear after a few days? is it annoying if there are 5, 6 or
10 features in a row about the climate camp on the startpage? Are people
checking the climate camp topic page?

If anyone is up for participating in the general climate camp reporting, join
#climatecamp in irc. it's fun, i'm not joking!

best
ionnek
