[Imc-uk-features] feature proposal: A Taste Of Things To Come

Whew! I have nothing against the feature in principle but lets not get
carried away. Check your timescales. Where is the evidence that the Gulf
Stream will stop a mere 5 years from now and will cause minus 40 degrees?
How long has it been going and it is probably cyclical anyway? So we had
similar floods just 50 years ago? So what? 'Since records began' is
slightly more convincing but still by no means conclusive when considered
on a realistic timescale. The last GLOBAL ice age was about 10,000 years
ago, attributable to Milankovitch Cycles, and the next one could occur as
much as 50,000 years from now.

The reality is that extreme events considered in the UK alone are a poor
indicator of GLOBAL warming. All you can say is that any freak weather
here is likely to become more frequent and this is what it is going to be
like when it happens, only worse.

So, cut out the timescales bit and everything should be fine.

Doug.
