[Imc-uk-features] 9/11 and Indymedia

Hi
It appears to me that the core issue at the heart of the
arguments we are having at the moment is peoples attitude
to 9/11 -- some people think it is not an issue that needs
investigation because it's impossible that it was an
inside job, some think that it doesn't matter if it was an
inside job, some people are on the fence on the issue and
some think that since it's the cornerstone of the "war on
terror" that getting to the truth about what happened
could stop the next war.
It appears that the "it's impossible that it was an inside
job" and the "it doesn't matter if it was an inside job"
people would like all posts on the matter hidden -- as
they were for a while (the non-uk feature from last year
goes into the history of this to some extent [1]).
At Menwith Hill yesterday I asked some people about what
they thought about Indymedia and 9/11 and I got an
interesting response from a no borders activist from Leeds
-- he said that he disn't have a problem with 9/11 related
material on the site and that he viewes it in the same way
as anti-fascist posts -- they use Indymedia why shouldn't
people questioning 9/11.
I agree that it would be good to talk about this stuff
face to face, perhaps the Screening on Tuesday of
Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime [2] at the Inn On The
Green [3] will provide some oppertunity for this... Are
London people opposed to 9/11 truth material being on the
site going to come to this?
As for the argument that activists / campaigns questioning
9/11 are qualitively different from all other activists
campaigns -- I'm not convinced, of course there are
quantitive differences and the 9/11 truth movement also
deserves critism for some things (I could write a really
long list...) but I think that the claim on last years
feature that "the 9/11 Truth Movement is gradually gaining
recognition as a legitimate, albeit still controversial,
part of the broad global justice movement" [1] has been
illustrated to be true by things such as the US Social
Forum adopting a 9/11 truth resolution [4].
