On the question of features going up at the same time...

Keeping the stuff that appears on the front page (abstract, links etc.)
as short as possible, means that more features will be visible on the
front page. There are some features on the front page at the moment
which take up my whole screen. If the front page display was limited to
just the title, photo and a short abstract, with all the links moved to
the 'full article' section, there'd be a lot more room for several
features to be visible in the first screen on the front page. Would
that help?

Re. notice before putting up features...

If giving notice to post features over a weekend is a problem, then I
guess that it's important to make this clear in guidelines somewhere.
But it could cause problems for people trying to get features up quickly
where time is of the essence.

Re. politeness on list

I agree that rudeness isn't necessary. We've all got a responsibility
to think about how we express our feelings on email lists, because
exchanges can so easily degenerate into slanging matches.

I've suggested to people newly involved in the cymru-imc-wales
collective this weekend that it's a good idea to join this list as a
preparation for doing adminning. But I'm really very worried that
they're going to sign up, see the tone of exchanges that goes on and run
a mile!
