(please don't reply to features list, discussion should take place on
network, I only sent it here as I know few people subscribe to network)
The rampART is approaching it's third birthday, a somewhat shocking
fact for some of us, and there are plans being formed to celebrate
this fact with some kind of event. The idea so far is for a series
of events over three days (probably Friday, Saturday, Sunday) which
covers as much as possible of the kind of events that take place at
the rampART and involve as many of the groups who use the space as
possible.
This might for example mean a cafe and cinema night; a day of
workshops, skill sharing and presentations; a benefit gig with live
acts, music and spoken word; a day of DIY, fixing things up,
painting, making a nice roof top garden or whatever. It might also be
a chance to be a little experimental and silly, perhaps it's time for
rampART karaoke with appropriately rewritten lyrics, or speed dating
with a twist.
We were thinking it might be a good time to hold some kind of forum
for progressive campaigns and projects in London or perhaps national
meeting of the social centres network. Another possibility would be
to host a mini indymedia network gathering.
So, we'd like to know if indymedia people from outside London would
be interested to come down to this if it were to include a chunk of
time for a network meeting.
The dates we are thinking about initially are the 18,19,20 of May
(please let us know if there are any major clashes we should know about)
Accommodation would be available and it would be a whole weekend to
socialize and collaborate on shared projects, concerns, campaigns,
practical skill sharing etc. Regardless of whether there was enough
imc attendance to justify a network meeting, it could be a good place
to organise something like an indymedia user meeting, some kind of
consultation forum to get feedback, ideas, encourage involvement etc.
Likewise, a chance to do training, or skill sharing workshops.
So please let us know ASAP and share your own ideas.
thanks
Ben
