And this was hidden as a dupe (repeat post):

One thing that the people currently doing admin might want
to know is that notifying this list about articles that
are changed to the Repeated Post type have only been
announced to this list for the last six month or so -
before that people didn't bother to send a email about
them...

I don't think that they do need a notification email (who
is going to argue that a article deserves being on the
wire multiple times?!) but that adding a comment to them
linking to the post that has replaced them and then
promoting this comment is a better way to do it... but
this is more time consuming than sending an email...
