[Imc-uk-features] Tony's slurs

One last point, as I believe that the entire meaning of the issue
lies here. We are writing about Palestine, Israel, Jewish, Islamic
and Western Identity politics, left, democracy, ideology and its
narratives, etc., because we happen to believe that we can in some
way change the way things are, that we can redress some of the
injustice that we are partly responsible for, by living in "the West"
by our lifestyles and actions that come as a natural consequence of
this. If we are writing about it, we have to decide whose side we are
on. For me, the side I am on is very clear. It is that of the
Palestinian people, whom I deeply respect. Tony does not respect them
because they don't think like he does. He is directly quoted saying
so in the above post I have left. I wonder if you feel that this is a
person who should be leading some kind of "Solidarity Campaign"? I
sure don't think so, and I will go further. Read my comment to one of
my blog's posters who had commented that it was not important to see
the similarities between the Zionist Jew and the Jew Against Zionism.
I believe it should inform us just why Tony hates Gilad and me so
much; we take the Palestinians seriously, love, listen to and respect
them and look only towards service towards them in exposing all the
mechanisms that make them victims to other people's games and
devices. No other issue but the priority of the Palestinian voice,
choice and dignity has the same value. Whenever we point out that
these people who claim they are anti-zionists don't understand the
Palestinians, don't care about them, and are doing their best to
undermine them in much the same way the Zionists would, well, they
get hot under the collar. They wonder why they are marginal
politically, and rightly so. Their political ideas are damaging to
the Palestinians and the Palestinians are WELL aware of this. I hope
Indymedia is able to listen to both sides of the story and realise
that just because someone declares himself to be something, it
doesn't make him so. Tony thinks like a Zionist, (better than the
rest and the others aren't even worthy of respect) therefore, he is
one. We expose that, and he can't take it. He asks why Gilad gets a
feature piece (which he didn't even send, from what I gather, it got
picked up) and Tony doesn't. I'd say it's much for the same reason
that Tony is rarely published anywhere. He says nothing of interest,
value or use. I would say that is a quite evident reason.

here is the comment that explains my position.

"Well, Gerry. I disagree that it has been pointless to see the
political affinities of a self-acclaimed Jew Against Zionism, and a
self-acclaimed Zionist Jew.

They both disrespect the sovereignty of vox popolus. The voice of the
people is not that important to them. This is an extremely important
matter, for activists or for those who are busy proclaiming that they
want a solution to the Mid East Crisis.

They think people from outside, secular, or Jewish, in Tony's case,
can tell Palestinian people what is best for them, who is good and
who is politically mature, politically illiterate (waiting for Tony
to drop by and define this... seeing as how Hamas provides services
and seems to have an organisation that is effective both in
campaigning and delivering... they don't seem to be selling air,
unless I can't figure out what political literacy is).

Joe is totally right here when he says, The Palestinian people tell
me what they want, and I follow. I am not supposed to be leading
them! This is something political activists have GOT to get their
minds around. We are not supreme, we can't be dictating what is good
for others! We have a duty to service, not to be served!

Good grief! this should be clear as day to anyone. What is an
anti-Zionist if he doesn't give a toss about the Palestinian Street?
He should not be having anything to do with Palestinians, that is for
sure. Have him bother himself with getting Zionism out of his own
country, and leave the Palestinians to decide how they want to live
and be governed and what things are important to them. They are
harmed as much by these Greensteins who frustrate and berate their
intelligence, political maturity and autonomy, than by a settler in
Hebron. The difference is not that large.

Tony has a cheerleader here, and it is our resident Zionist. I think
that speaks volumes."
