Dear Indymedia

We are organising a public meeting this Friday 2 November 6-9pm at which two
activists from Oaxaca will speak about their extraordinary community-teacher
movement. At the beginning of the event a documentary will be screened
which, among other things, shows Indymedia journalist Brad Will's last
footage and tragic murder. The documentary also contains interviews with
survivors of the violent repression.

Would it be possible to give this event prominence on your website this
week?

During the meeting we will sign and circulate the petition regarding the
murder of Brad Will and of other people in Oaxaca.

The meeting is at the Public & Commercial Services Headquarters, 160 Falcon
Road, Clapham Junction
London SW11 2LN

Please see below for the features proposal. Please also use the attached
picture in the feature. Thank you.

Yours sincerely

Following a teachers’ strike in May 2006 which was brutally repressed,
teachers and their union Section 22, students, housewives, Indigenous &
rural communities and organisations from most sectors of society got
together and formed APPO – an alternative grassroots government. Over a
million people have marched and picketed demanding the resignation of the
state governor who came to power by election fraud, and women have occupied
the state radio and TV stations. Support has poured in from all over
Mexico. This new grassroots unity has been met by unprecedented repression:
people have been arbitrarily detained, raped and tortured, disappeared and
murdered, including Indymedia journalist Brad Will. Many are still in jail.
The International Civil Commission for Human Rights Observation, the
Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and Amnesty International have
reported extensive and systematic human rights violations. Early Day Motion
1828 tabled by John McDonnell has been signed by 32 MPs. The people of
Oaxaca are undefeated and determined to win justice.

Hear from these two key organisers about what is being achieved and how we
can support it.

A petition demanding justice for Brad Will at the 1st anniversary of his
death, and for the many other people who have been assassinated will be
circulated.
