[Imc-uk-features] hello REPORT+ PICTURE for web portal

Hi

First off, for the sender of this ridiculous email, please never send so
many pictures on one email. Even less often than never, ever send
pictures to an email list.

This email is crashing my Thunderbird as I type - well, maybe it won't
crash, but it is certainly stuck first trying to download it and now
trying to delete it.

We could do with a more strict moderation team on this list, not
allowing messages biger than half a mega byte, one at the very most.
Emails that get rejected can get the reason on some form of text that I
am prepared to write and some one can put on the wiki if they want ...
although I'm pretty sure that there is plenty of stuff about nettiquette
on the net.

This list is not for people to send a bunch of pictures and say, hey,
you, put this on your web portal. This makes us service providers and
we're not.

There are pages explaining how to prepare a feature on indymedia uk.
There are actually face to face trainings in London, maybe elsewhere
too, and choosing to dump the work that you are supposed to do (c'mon,
we're detailing the how to) is an insult to those people who put
together those pages and those who train people on how to do reports and
features.

Sorry to sound so harsh, but the people actually maintaining the site as
well as putting features together are trying to keep this list a working
list, and emails like these ... make me want to get off the list and i'm
sure other people too and this must not be too good for the survival of
the site?

Anyway - no i'm not going to work on that feature, I do not feel
inspired enough by an email 4 Mega bytes big, on the contrary.

I'm sure other people will be in a better mood to point you to how-to
pages but all i can say is, if you have technical problems uploading
pictures, write to the tech list, that's what it is for, you'll help
them find a problem and they'll help you solve it, and that will help
other people not gettting the same problem, sending the pix here solves
nothing, pisses people off and it is not collaborative.

proposal to have a proper working list, even closed if necessary, anyone?
