This has been brought up before. For the Notts site we have adopted a
set of editorial guidelines with some slight differences to the uk site.
This means that when uk moderators hide an article they should really
check if it has a region ticked as there might be different criteria for
hiding. Most admins do check this and would just untick the uk tickbox
so it's up to that regional collective to moderate it off their site or
leave it on. Unfortunately there is a lot of moderation going on,
especially on the uk site. As all the regional sites and the uk one are
in one admin system, these things can happen.
For example, back in September 2005 we had a couple of articles about
the Tour of Britain on the Notts site:
http://indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/nottinghamshire/2005/09/322413.html
http://indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/nottinghamshire/2005/09/322434.html
Someone decided to hide these as they weren't 'political enough'.
This then started a little discussion on the imc-uk-features list:

http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-uk-features/2005-September/0907-1b.html
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-uk-features/2005-September/0907-u1.html
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-uk-features/2005-September/0907-2x.html

I guess the point is that if you as a collective decide that you want
your site to be part of the UK site system, and are on the same server,
instead of your own then it will always be the case that others *could*
moderate what goes onto the Liverpool site. Also it means we have a
shared responsibility for what goes into that system and onto the uk and
regional sites. On the other hand, if you make very clear that you are
on top of moderation yourself and want people to leave liverpool
articles alone, that shouldn't be an issue. Some collectives aren't as
active as others and sometimes you need to make a choice to just hide
it, instead of it just staying on some regional pages.
Cheers, Wietse
