yeah, this wasn't what the question was about - it was top of the wire
(or second top or something) when i promoted it, so i wasn't worried
that people had missed it.

so, i guess this raises another question: how effective is the promoted
newswire? i.e. how many people use the promoted wire as a default, or
just click straight onto it and ignore the unpromoted stuff, etc? i
guess this will be hard to figure out precisely, but i'd be interested
in peoples' thoughts.
