Hiya Mick
Love the idea of using the blip open
source flash player - in fact we've done it already!
http://www.undercurrents.org/visionon/VOTVwigits.htm
<embed
src="http://blip.tv/play/gZtgAQA"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="700"
height="360" allowscriptaccess="always"
allowfullscreen="true"></embed>
This embed will be streaming all the
content from the climate camp TV studio, which VisionOnTV is
operating. We've got a 12 x 24 tent in the media area for this
purpose.. The TV studio aims to be producing 2 x 20-30 minute live-mixed shows a
day, plus uploading other activist films produced at the camp. On
the embedded player there is already a season of relevant climate change films, all
creative commons non-commercial share-alike. It's a great idea
to have this up on the imc site, so that everything can go out in
partnership with the wider indymedia network. We will also
offer workshops on how to make studio shows in the field during the
week so everyone can be involved.
And see you there!

Hi there,
One of the things that we all seemed to agree on in the last couple of
gatherings for indymedia was the need for more partnership working with campaign
groups, including things like
syndication, aggregation.
The climate camp should give us a good opportunity to work out how this could
work. Please do come along even if it is only for a day or so! Or see you in IRC
if not hopefully.
There have been some good things happening with the climate camp media stuff.
There was a really good meeting on the Wales border with the Bristol posse
called Hacktionlab.
And from that came the idea of doing more workshops at the climate camp out of
the alt.media space there.
http://www.hacktivista.net/hacktionlab/index.php/Camp_for_Climate_Action_2008_Media#Workshops_.26_Training
This year it's called 'be the media' and trying to work more
within the process of the camp, to prevent the us and them feeling that was
happening a bit last year.
http://www.hacktivista.net/hacktionlab/index.php/Camp_for_Climate_Action_2008
One thing that is clear - the people that can't make it to the
climate camp
from indymedia are going to be very much missed. Hopefully we can still as an
indymedia network help create kick ass coverage.
There will be the infrastructure for doing good inymedia stuff, and also run by
people with the indymedia ethos of open publishing and copyleft licencing.
A couple of things...
Is there material that should be downloaded and printed off?
ben is going to do a print out - but maybe there are still leaflets in london
that are around, or stickers, or particular print outs that we should do?
Also if video stuff is published on other servers so that it can be streamed
[ie blip.tv], would it be outrageous to embedding the video in the HTML page on
Indymedia so we can point people to that page rather than the page on blip.tv or
the climate camp website?

If someone could put up the proposal from the other day it would be
appreciated.
It seems Leeds IMC is taking a while with it..

Hiya
I've just cached up with all the 'be the media' preparations for
this
year's CC by looking through the links mick sends below. There's quite
a lot going on with this year's media / alt
media set up! Nice one :-)
I like two things specially:
1.- the series of workshops in the 'be the media' spaces
2.- the fact that the whole alt media process this year seems to be a
bit more imbeded with the general cc camp process, making stronger
links with the camp's media team and so on ... which is something we
definitely missed the last two years .. even though i still think that
Indymedia managed to do, once again, the best reporting of both 2006
and 2007 camps .. hehe :-p
Anyhow, I think imcistas and other alt media bods should definitely
focus on creating independent and autonomous media out of this years
camp, and as i understand the set up being prepared, it facilitates
doing just that .. in our case, i guess, to do indy.
Anyhow ..

I think the IMC-UK's How to Publish Genny put together for last year's
camp is still very relevant, as well as a leaflet some london bods put
together called 'Indymedia and the Politics of Participation' (or
something lie that anyway)
London printed quite a bit of these last year, but I am not sure if
there are still many left. I've looked through the wikis to see if
there's any pdf of them, but i couldn't find it (i can't never find
anything in the wiki maze unless i know he exact url!)
But if pdf's exist Tony should have them, and if there are still hard
copies available probably Ana would know where. Are you two listening
this?

I think this is a good, albeit probably temporal idea (if I understand
well what you are saying). Otherwise yossarian has written a video
player thing that i don't know if it could be used for his at all. I
don't even know if that's what you are asking actually, but the one
yoss wrote works beautifully.
A big shout to those involved in this 'be the media' set up anyway.

Hi
I've got copies of Tony's pdf files, which are set out ready for
printing.
If anyone wants them, give me a shout.
Cheers

Hey!
Following the startpage specials which have preceded the Smash EDO and
SHAC demos and Climate Camp, I thought it might be good to do one for the
upcoming mobilisation against the the BNP's Red White and Blue festival in
Derbyshire which looks like it
could be pretty big.
https://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/NottsFeaturePage57
There is some confusion about times, but these can be updated as
necessary. As ever, feel free to make changes and it'd be particularly
good if somebody could find a better picture.
I'd thought it'd be good to put it up on the anti-racism and Stop RWB
topic pages ASAP and then tick UK and Notts when the Climate Camp
startpage special gets turned into a feature.
Thanks,
Rich
