I agree that it needs a response. What I am questioning is whether the 
middle column is the best place for it. I would prefer to use the 
startpage for stuff that we really want people to know about and get 
active on, ie: grassroots news from the movement.

I think this is very different from an 'ordinary' feature which tends to 
be reporting 'news'. Maybe we should refer to this as an editorial.

Yeah perhaphs. Maybe it could go on the newswire first and start talking 
to SHIFT mag about it going into the next issue. Remember that once it 
goes out onto any middle column it is picked up by the RSS feed and will 
thus appear on many different sites including the global newsire.
