As; start page/topic specials
For; Animal Liberation, SHAC and Stop Sequani
Reason; largest animal liberation event for over a decade
News because; first time in 15 years there's been a march and details on recent repression.
If somebody could get this up asap that'd be great, preferably by tomorrow night if it'd be ok to skip the 48 process for start page specials, as has been done for other topics. Otherwise, if no objections, then for tomorrow as a startpage/topic feature and as startpage/topic special by thursday if that'd be alright. I guess the latter idea is better.
Usuall wouldn't ask to advance a feature, just been a bit busy/late with this one, apologies.
Thanks. AR
Summary:
For World Week for Animals in Laboratories, a national march for World Day has been organised this saturday in London to call for an end to vivisection, in response to Labour’s abandoned pre-election promise for an official inquiry into animal experimentation. It has been over 15 years since the anti-vivisection movement has held a march in London to mark World Day, previously attracting thousands of activists and further uniting the movement.
After the march from Hyde Park, a rally near Trafalgar Square will take place to protest against the government’s pro-vivisection policies followed by an all vegan social event. As part of the march, militant anti-speciesists have called for a ‘Direct Action & Solidarity Bloc’ in resistance to the imprisonment of peaceful campaigners (1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5) and the ongoing repression of the anti-vivisection movement (1 | 2 | 3 | 4).
