[IMC-UK-Features] request for feature on indmedia g giggles

The feature did go through the proper procedures, and no one objected
before it went up, so it was fine to put it up. But we as a collective
are allowed to change our minds after the fact, though that can lead to
a bit of acrimony, as in this case. There is no consensus so it is a
little hard to decide the end point ...
But in general, a feature is collecting together news that has been
posted to the wire. In general we don't put up features that simply
announce events, even though the proposed feature may have links to the
newswire.
I say in general, because there are exceptions to the rule - features on
news we judge to be important, despite there being little in the
newswire, and features in the run up to big events - the G8 gatherings
and climate camps being examples where there was no argument.
In my view this is a borderline case, and I lean towards it not being a
UK feature, but am not overly bothered if it does go there.
Not sure how we go forward, but thought I'd mention out general way of
working for those who are relatively new to indymedia.

It draws together newswire pieces about the previous climate rush article and the info about the coming action on Monday. Yes it is blatantly an announcement presented as a feature but there have been plenty of those in the past. This is major news and the action on monday will generate plenty of newswire content. Today the evening standard front page was the runway three decision announcement which will be confirm early next week, possibly even monday. On top of that there was the plane stupid sentencing a couple of days ago which would fit really well into this feature.
