Hi,
I was wondering if the following news item could be made a main feature
on Indymedia UK: http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/02/423176.html
Basically, this story comes on the back of the House of Lords ruling two
weeks ago that we can send people back to countries like Jordan and
Algeria to face torture and the death penalty. Last week, the two
Algerians in that case and three others were kidnapped and held without
access to their lawyers and families overnight by the Home Office (they
were taken to different jails) pending a hearing to have their bail
revoked - they're on bail pending the government's ability to send them
back to torture. Some papers ran this story on Friday as Home Secretary
Raging as Judge Grants Bail to Terrorists, or something to that effect.
This was to cover up the fact that she had had them kidnapped in spite
of the judge having granted them bail the day before, effectively
overriding the decision of a court of law. This is the kind of story
that the mainstream media either ignores or subverts to make the
government look good - when they did turn up at court on Friday, secret
evidence was heard. As mentioned in Andy's article, there are a couple
of other hearings coming up so if possible, please could this be a main
feature until at least 11 March? I will try to forward you any other
relevant materials and will ask Andy to do so too if you like.
This is an aspect of hidden Britain and this has been going on for
years; it's quite simple, if these men are "terrorists", then try them,
convict them and lock 'em up legally. Even they agree with that.
Best wishes, Aisha (LGC)
