[IMC-UK-Features] G20 Dispatch and Reporting Plans

i just saw the mails questioning status and plans for dispatch and  
reporting of G20 events on process and thought i'd pitch in...

there is an evolving plan for dispatch and a meeting in london tonight  
to discuss and update on progress, with probably a follow up get  
together at the weekend

i've spoken to a few folks and have proposed that in line with  
previous big events that the uk site is the right place to do the main  
breaking news and timeline and features, primarily 'cos the G20  
protests are major national news (and much of the newswire reports  
will be posted to uk) - with london linking to uk for the main coverage.

a lot of people pretty much know what's involved to make a reporting  
system work and i don't see that there is (or should be) any split  
between uk / london dispatch reporting. This is just 'doing indymedia'  
and it's what indy is best at.

london bods are on the ground preparing telephones and numbers and  
some plans for how / where to do things

like previous large event reporting efforts, people are needed to  
report from the streets, to answer dispatch phones and to be online  
and in irc and putting together timeline breaking news and features.

so this is an appeal for participation for those of you who won't be  
out and about in london. A couple of ppl have offered their time after  
the call for help was put on the ukfeatures list 10 days ago - but  
more are needed - can people say if they will be around to help online?

(i know a few folks are coming to london but it would also be useful  
if anyone else who is planning on coming to london and can help with  
calling in reports or taking pictures would get in touch with the  
london list (imc-london at lists.indymedia.org) or myself so there's an  
idea of numbers of people who can help with reporting from the  
streets, or just say here!)

as said, london ppl are having a meeting tonight, but for now take  
this as a proposal to have a startpage special on the uk frontpage  
calling for participation in reporting the G20 protests and events -  
with dispatch numbers and quicklinks to the events lists - say to be  
published friday - followed by breaking news and timelines for the  
main demo days.
