Preparations for a No Borders camp in Calais taking shape

Initiatives from the UK, France, Belgium and Germany are currently
preparing a protest camp in Calais, France, to take place from June
23-29th, including a transnational demonstration

The callout http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/05/430158.html describes
the aims of the camp as highlighting the realities of the situation for
migrants in Calais and as “challenging the authorities on the ground, to
protest against increased repression of migrants and local activists
alike”.

A mobilisation tour around the UK includes an exhibition of striking
photographs from Calais by French photographer Julie Rebouillat. The tour
is currently in Manchester

In the UK, the camp mobilisation is carried by the UK No Borders network

and an end all migration controls. It is also used to promote a new No
Borders publication http://wiki.noborders.org.uk/workspace/A-_Z_workspace,
where the network describes its positions as “anti-capitalist and
anti-authoritarian”.
