Yeap, any attempt at change is better than none. MrD agrees there is
an implicit hierarchy in indymedia but claims that those in those
positions of technical or access elite do not abuse their powers. I
personally disagree having found my email blocked from the lists and
I'm sure other have experienced similar. But that doesn't concern me
so much as the fact that of the 50 or so MIR admin logins, only a
handful are used by people moderating the site on a daily basis. A
look through the list archives show that over the last year we've been
down to perhaps four people taking control of pretty much all the
editorial admin of the site and as JimDog points out, most if not all
of those people are not even performing admin as part of an active
regional collective. It's about time IMC-UK admitted that it is in a
really unhealthy state and one which might improve if people stopped
trying to stand in the way of turning the IMC-UK front page into an
aggregation site as was agree over two years ago.
