I believe the waves are high right now and people feel confused and/or
like they didn't get the chance to have a say, because we have not yet
done some kind of consultation process or discussed at all what kind of
features the collectives want to see in the syndication site. Without
any discussion more specific than "a front-page syndicating content from
all local collectives", changes were made to the Uk Mir site, to enable
syndication. While I really appreciate the work that has gone into this,
I do think that it should have happened on a development site, not the
live site. Making changes to the live Uk site with no consultation at
all is not exactly consensus decision making, and while I do not want to
suggest that this was intentional, in effect it is not very inclusive.
Maybe we should keep in mind that no decisions have been made, except
the one that we all want syndication, and focus on making the
consultation happen. This process is in motion, and it would be great to
see some more input what issues people think need to be discussed, see
the current list on
https://docs.indymedia.org/Local/UkIndymediaFrontPageSpec#Features.
Lets do some constructive work together and create an awesome site!
cheers,
mara
