Should the Northern England RSS feeds be added back then?
I personally really don't care either way at this stage,
and I'm not sure it matters all that much in practice
either way either -- in the last week there have been 3
articles on the Northern site which would have been pulled
in:
- Newcastle Unites! - Successful anti-racist event
https://www.northern-indymedia.org/articles/661
- Week of Action Against University Vivisection
https://www.northern-indymedia.org/articles/659
- Greyhound death demo greets Dara
https://www.northern-indymedia.org/articles/658
All three were also published on the UK site, so the RSS
pulled versions would have been hidden as reposts:
- Newcastle unites! Ant-racist event
https://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2010/04/449687.html
- Week of Action Against University Vivisection
https://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2010/04/449278.html
- Greyhound death demo greets Dara
https://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2010/04/449445.html
Many the users of the sites appear to be happy with
content to appear on both sites and are simply posting to
both -- they are working around the fact that there are
multiple sites with multiple publishing forms.
Also Jimdog still has access to edit the templates and the
file that lists the RSS feeds to be pulled:
However has has asked for his development version of the
Mir site to be deleted:
Jimdog -- are you part of IMC UK or not, it's really hard
to follow...
Walking out and then attacking us for you not having
access for things is rather strange behaviour.
I really wish the personal attacks and FUD would stop.
It's getting really tedious. This is an example from a few
days ago:
This has been implemented without any prior discussion
or consensus within the network and by doing so may have
endangered the leeds bradford archives by tinkering with
the live site.

To claim that there hasn't been discussion or consensus is
absurd, the notes from the last meeting:
Syndicated UK Front-page¶
For several years now, it has been generally agreed that
a syndicated front-page which can include RSS feeds from
all imc-uk collectives would be desirable. This is the
fourth meeting in a row which has expressed such a
desire. The meeting came away with a commitment to a
working group which could try and get such a system
running, on whatever platform can do the job. Chris was
of the opinion that Mir could work but only one person,
who is not based in the UK, can add the necessary code.
Mick and Ekes are working on a Drupal-based solution.
The basic idea was that as a first step, people working
on the syndication site should just copy the existing
imc-uk design to whatever extent they can, so that the
page looks mostly like it does now but with features and
newswire items from imc-bristol, imc-london,
imc-northern, and imc-scotland inserted into it.

And:
Syndicated UK front page
Chris offers to create the template if other techs can
agree to code producers.xml.

To claim that I "may have endangered the leeds bradford
archives", is pure FUD -- how exactly did I do that?
All the best
Chris
