I'm very sorry if I haven't explained things in a clear way.

The proposal is to make the new layout *optional*, have the existing
layout the *default* -- you can see what this would look like via this
link (you have to allow cookies for this to work):

Site users could then *opt* to have a 4 column layout via the
preferences page:

I haven't yet changed things around so that the existing layout is the
default, this is why the long link to set a cookie to make the existing
layout the default has been shortened using notlong.com so the proposal
can be demonstrated.

If people are happy with the site retaining the existing layout then
I'll make that the default -- the one people get if they don't have any
cookies, and then people will be able to opt for the 4 column layout if
they wish, via setting cookies.

Is this clear, if not please explain what I need to clarify?

Sure, the main ones are:

- Media archives, Image, Video, Audio.

- More RSS feeds.

- A *optional*, customisable, 4 column layout.

- Various small fixes and enhancements

All the best

Chris
