I think photography should be considered in a different way to radio
and video, because as it is such an accessible medium you don't need
to be an enthusiast to join in. I mean, everyone takes snaps at
parties or on holiday, compared to how many broadcast radio or edit
videos?
So on that basis, publish forms for reports containing photographs
should be easier. Why say "upload media files" when you could say
"Choose Picture" and "Send Article"?

No need for "max file size" on the photo page, just good guidelines
on how to reduce the dimensions and filesize.

Should read "Caption (Describe what's happening in the picture)"

Agreed.

I did write a help section on this about three months back and it's
no doubt on some wiki somewhere but even I can't find it and I know
about it. I feel help sections should definitely be on the publish
pages, even if only as links from there to the wiki. Presumably
they'd have to open new windows (the horror!!!) or each time you
accessed the help page and returned to the form it'd have cleared
itself...?
And "no" to .png. Publish pages should help people get their stuff
published easily and just about every app that comes with a camera or
is resizing freeware on the web uses jpg. MIR supports it (I
presume) so it's fine if someone who already knows what they're doing
converts to .png but I wouldn't want to try and encourage this with
photo 'non-enthusiasts'.
If a consensus developed that we'd have separate publish forms for
each medium I'd be happy to put in the time and write the whole
photography thing, but I wouldn't really want to do it until that
point.
