This email was supposed to go out a couple of days ago. While it has been
superseded by recent events, the basic points still stand.
The email is not just from bristol but from all of the interested parties
listed at the bottom of the mail. I am sending it on their behalf.
========================
Hello Mayday collective,
As you have noticed, we have published the feature we proposed a while
ago, and proposed it again to UK. We will fork on 1st May and we need
to inform the wider community about the coming changes.
Not doing the fork is not an option for us. The recent exchanges on UK
lists only show that there is no alternative to the fork.
Blocking this feature rather than engaging is unfortunate, you did not
present any viable alternative solution.
Instead you have tried to make a farce of consensus decision making by
withdrawing your consent retroactively. Members of your collective have
(again) attacked collectives and individuals from group B. We are not
willing to continue with this.
We understand that membership in the global Indymedia network is
important to you. You should be aware that your adherence to consensus
decision-making is a crucial factor in your chances at becoming an
affiliated Indymedia.
Please be aware that several of the affiliated Indymedias in group B are
prepared to block you from ever becoming an affiliated Indymedia in the
global network, should you make further efforts to stop the fork.
If you continue on the path laid out in your last mail to these lists,
your chance of becoming part of the global network will be gone. The UK
site is a joint venture between the UK network of which your collective
is a small part, it is unbelievable that you are striving to highjack
the site from the active indymedias in the UK.
If you make the fork happen and you resolved your issues with the New
Imc working group then with all likely hood you will attain what you
have been striving for.
We will do our best to make the fork happen smoothly and in the least
disruptive way for everyone involved. Your active participation in this
will help to that end. Please start responding to the queries of our
techs in a constructive manner. Everything else will just result in a
higher disruption for Indymedia users and contributors on the fork date.
Sincerely,
Group B - Be The Media
including Indymedia Bristol, London, Northern England, Nottingham and
other volunteers from Indymedia UK
