Hi,
I've cobbled together a small PHP script that takes a directory full of
MP3 files and generates an RSS feed from the tag info on the individual
files. A test is up at
http://tacticalmedia.mine.nu/radiotest/listsongs.php - this is just a
raw RSS feed, ugly but functional.
A version with some formatting on it is at:
http://tacticalmedia.mine.nu/radiotest/zfeeder/newsfeeds/zfeeder.php?zftemplate=ampheta&zfmore=1&zfcategory=general&zfposition=p1,#zfchannel1
Comments are welcome.
Basically you can edit info in the mp3 file directly, and the files
could be automatically uploaded to a publicly viewable web server and a
web page generated from whatever info you entered in the file. The idea
is to save radio people messing around a lot with the normal publish
forms on indymedia sites, which can take a lot of time when people are
busy making audio.
The script currently reads ID3 version 1 and/or 2 tags that you can edit
locally in your mp3 player. So, in theory, if the radio people want to
use this as the basis for an upload system that will automatically
generate a website based on synchronized uploads from a directory on a
server in the media centre, they can do it.
If this doesn't make any sense, see a somewhat longer explanation at
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-uk-tech/2005-May/0519-yx.html
I'd like to expand the script a little to include Ogg files but haven't
yet looked into what sorts of metadata they support. Any help on that
much appreciated.
The source code will go up on http://codecoop.org as soon as the project
gets approved (project name is id3mc).
