[imc-uk-tech] Events calender

Just been looking at http://protest.net/imcuk/

It's looking really bad as it's not been touched since pre MIR days...

http://uk.indymedia.org/links.php3 redirects to
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/links.html which has not been
regenerated into the new CSS templates.

http://uk.indymedia.org/publish.php3 goes nowhere (could direct to
prepublish page)

and obviously the search facilities don't work either.

anyway, I wondered what the status and progress of plans to integrate a
calender system directly into MIR?

Is it worth contacting protest.net and requesting a new template to
compliment IMC UK as it is now?

Of course it would be great if we could move forward with providing a
more integrated solution
whereby events share the same mir database as ordinary articles.
Without getting to clever,
can't we just create an 'events' category in publish? It would provide
an events wire and topic page
but that wouldn't be that useful unless the users can choose to display
the wire not just listed as
most recent post fist, but also listed in chronological sequence based
on when the event occures.
That would require some new fields and of course a separate publish
page for events.

This approach wouldn't be anywhere near as flexible as perhaps is
required. For example it couldn't
automatically cope with regular events. However it is easily achievable
and if we ever get the MIR
search operational again, it would be fully intergrated into the site.

so has anyone been working on this issue?

Ben
