Actually, another idea to throw into the mix is that we could have 3
slots for 

* the latest article with photos (or images at least)
* the latest article with audio
* the latest article with video

Be good to show the different areas.  This could be modified to "the
latest *promoted* article with XXX" to make sure we have reasonable
quality stuff on the newswire.  

And it should be possible to generate an image from any video posted as
a preview - my file manager (gnome/ubuntu/edgy) does it automatically at
any rate.  In fact we should add this to our "wanted features" list so
that there is an image preview in articles with video - I'm sure that
once the image resizing is done this can be implemented easily ...
