I don't have any problem with thumbnails, but I'm one of the few
photographers who think that way. Cast your mind back to when Chris
enabled that last year...
If we did go down that route I'd suggest we decided what we meant by
"a thumbnail" first in terms of size - the 150 pixel jobs on front
page articles only work because they're selected pictures carefully
cropped. Many posters' pictures would be unintelligible at that size,
you'd need 250 pixels to make any sense of them.
I support thumbnails because I think the words are at least as
important as the pictures. I usually find a scroll of 10 or so random
pictures of an event un-illuminating (and they break up the story),
but to work as a narrative you'd have to be able to insert the
thumbnails where you wanted to in the article.
