Hiya Wietse and all
Thanks for this. I thing the design is definitely an improvement from
what we have now as a startpage. It's got a more dynamic feel to it,
and it helps promoting the regional sites and the topic pages, which
can only be good imo.
Having said that, a few comments: things:
1- It worked very well with firefox and mozilla (although with a very
big size font), but it displayed very badly with Safari (a mac
application) The boxes were all on top of each other.
2- I would actually change the order of the boxes. Below the main
feature I would put the 'Featured Articles' box but double sized like
the 'reposts from elsewhere' one.
Then underneath this the 'Promoted Newswire" and "Major Reports' boxes,
followed with the "Selected Photo' and 'Media Pages' ones, and then the
'Regions' and 'Topics'.
3- I am not sure how the boxes for topics and regional sites would
work. The design does not display all of them. I understand that
because there are 'too many' topics and regions to fit in the
startpage, but did we decide on how these would be chosen to appear on
the front page? I mean will it be randomly? Or is it that it will only
show those that are most active? (sorry I can remember what was decided)
Ok, I know that trying to design a website with too many voices making
comments is not very practical, but still, as you ask for feedback,
here it is some from me :-)
Also, is there a time scale for implementing this?
