Hello all,
I was just reading some of your comments about FourDocs (Channel4's 4 minute broadband documentary channel) from back in October, so apologies for a delayed response. I'd like to insist that we WOULD NEVER censor an uploaded Fourdoc for political reasons. Any doc that fits the legal and technical requirements of the site will go on there - the tech requirements are so that it can be seen in the way the filmmaker intends, the legal reqs are what you would expect for any public channel - i.e. no defamation of character, unproven allegations, consents from all those featured, etc - something that any documentary maker would be attentive to anyway. Check the site - there is a wide range of material there, from all positions on the spectrum of ideas.
It is of course up to you all whether you want to take part or not, but remember that the wider exposure you get for your documentary, and for the ideas therein, the better it surely is for the message to get across. Who benefits if you preach purely to the converted? FourDocs is part of the independent media, not the opposition, and I am bemused that you would think otherwise. FourDocs is in operational terms distinct from Channel 4, despite being on its webspace, and we're offering you the chance to infiltrate the mainstream media. I think it would benefit you to take part, without any requirement for compromise in your agenda. If we didn't want you on there, or wished to use you only for commercial or credibility gains, I wouldn't insult you and the whole concept of Indymedia by asking.
All the best,
Charlie, FourDocs
