hello all,
the LA folks have moved the temp site over to www.atlanta.indymedia.org
<http://www.atlanta.indymedia.org/> and as you can see it needs quite
a bit of work to make it a functioning imc site.
since we're only about 2 weeks away from the social forum, i thought
that perhaps the easiest (and maybe fastest) way to get the site up and
running would be to come up with a list of things that needs to be done
and see if anyone would be willing to take sections of it (instead of
one person doing all of it... b/c i don't think i have the time to set
up the whole site). what do others think?
i've come up with a partial list below, and for those who more
experience with drupal please feel free to add to it ( parts of the list
are from
http://worcesteractivist.org/wiki/Building_an_Indymedia_site_on_Drupal
and the drupal listserv ):
1. Create roles "editor" and "admin." Set access controls. Enable
"Clean URLs."
2. Install the following modules:
- views
- flexinode
- event
- front_page
- article (set vocabulary for articles)
- sitemap
- tinymce (spell checker and php files optional install)
- audio
- location
- playlist
- akismet is used for fighting spam. However, if you disable IP logging,
it won't work. (not sure if need)
- content construction kit
- Content Template (contemplate)
- filefield (you'll be customizing the node template, and having this
module makes it easier to work with the display of file attachments)
- image
- imagecache
- img_assist
- imagefield
- indymedia_cities: This custom module grabs the master list of
Independent Media Centers once a day. Then it removes the line breaks
from the list, and provides you with a block that links to all the IMCs.
- video
- possible location
- taxonomy
3. Turn on all necessary built in modules: ( aggregator, blog, comment,
contact, forum, help, node, path, profile, tracker,
upload)
4. set up content types for "story" and "page" (Ben has sent an email
out showing how his were defined)
5. Configure imagecache. This module is used to resize submitted
images.
6. Make categories Local, Global, Hidden, Unsorted.
7. Save the Indymedia favicon to /misc. This is the little picture
displayed by some web browsers. You may have to clear the browser's
cache to see the new favicon. The /misc directory doesn't seem the best
place for this file, but I don't know where else to put it in Drupal
5.0.
8. Make a block in one of the columns with indymedia_cities
9. Take care of IP logging issues
is there anything else that's needed? any suggestions? any volunteers?
thanks for everyone's help!

Subject: [IMC-US] Volunteers Needed: IMC-US print project
Hi!
The IMC-US project for the USSF is under way as we speak. We're looking
for volunteers to help us:
- gather a list of all local indymedia radio projects
- gather a list of all local indymedia video/TV projects
You can add your info at or simply reply to this mssg:
https://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/USSocialForum
Possibly take a look at the paper and give us feedback on what we're
missing... (when we're ready for show and tell, that is).
Thanks!
amy, sakura, sofe, sofia
