For me what works is dvgrab, ffmpeg2theora and oggfwd for firewire streaming.
I tried freej with v4l, but it worked without sound.
For v4l w/ sound i used ffmpeg, ffmpeg2theora and oggfwd.
for server, is the icecast, as always.
i'm writing a interface for video streaming called theorur.
