[IMC-Video] live streaming

Hi all.
this is dongwon from seoul, s.korea. i'm a volunteer in Media Culture
Action against neo-liberal globalization and FTA in particular
recently(http://gomediaction.net/).
i'm very interested in seeing there are discussions on live streaming
here and there at the same time,
so that i strongly feel it's about time our experiences for live
streaming should be updated especially because we here have just used
window media server + window media encoder + window media player. (only
one platform! that's too bad!).
At the site for live coverage, we often use a switcher connected with 3
cameras, and a window for streaming(user's interface) has not only a
player, but a list of last streamings(VOD), live comment etc. (you can
see it by clicking the "video on air" at the right-middle corner of
http://gomediaction.net <http://gomediaction.net/>).
recently, we have done dual mode of streaming window from two venues, to
show each other in different two venues, for example there were
simultaneous candle light protests in Daechuri(where people's struggles
have been against the expansion of US Forces camp) and in
Gwanghwamoon(seoul) where supporters gathered.
now we are trying to build up multi-channel streaming window. but it
takes a while.
me personally, i'm a kind of new user for this(nodongnet[labornet] has
done it a lot), but i'm very enthusiastic over its potential for social
movement. (since last year, i have worked with media techies from
nodongnet to develop it.)
As for the configuration we here experiment with for live streaming,
it's nothing much to share, but it's under re-construction, i wish.
so i really hope that we can collaborate internationally at some
moments. How about this?:
there will be about 100 korean struggles delegation to the U.S. (LA and
mainly Seattle) to protest against 3rd round talk of korea-US FTA(Free
trade Agreement) in 3rd - 9th of Sepmtember. I don't think media
activist(s) can go together, especially who can deal with streaming
stuffs. it's still under discussion to see if some of us could go...
(but money and visa problems!)
so i really wish that media activists in seoul and you indymedia
activists in Seattle(, LA) could cover korean delegation's protests,
workshops, performances etc. together.
And what i'd like to suggest is to do some live streaming between
Seattle(or LA) and Seoul at some particular events.
I think this kind of practices is the best way to advance further.
how do you think? i hope that we can make it!
thank you.
best, dongwon
