[IMC-Video] It's Our Web!

While I am sympathetic to Ben's POV, unless Indymedia gets its finger
out it will forever lag behind commercial sites and thereby loose a lot
of activist material, as well as contributions from non-technical
newbies. This is best illustrated by the lack of embedded video. Some
people just can't be bothered to download lengthy files only to find
they won't play on their operating system unless they then frig about
downloading something else which might not work either.
So, for the time being anyway, many contributions will inevitably be
made to the newswire which include links to commercial sites.
Doug.

matter what individuals use these sites for, the bigger picture is in
the addiction and dependency on these and other site like them to get
on in the world. Once hooked, your own behavior and emotions are
manipulated.
>We fail to realize, however, that the appearance of activist videos
on these sites do draw millions of viewers and are excellent vehicles
for distribution and dissemination. We also fail to realize, and more
importantly to Ben's point (or so I think is Ben's point) that if
viewers don't purchase what is advertised on these sites, neither the
sites or its advertisers would be making money.
>Therefore the focus shouldn't be on using these sites to post videos
and have them carry our messages to others, instead, it is not to get
caught up in the consumer culture frenzy.
