Its good this discushern is happing as we have finely just got majer
funding to run our atavist media outreach project called
http://visionontv.net which is based on open standards and designed to
be very simple to use and most impotently excseabel outside both tec and
activist cercals
The current implementation is still overly complex - but funding now
makes a much simpler version possabel. The project is basically a easy
to access view into the creative commons video soup - think of it as a
golden ladeal that brings up tasty bite sizes morceals of what/were/why
of social change in a fermilea TV like expirence, while still embodying
all the interaction/complexerty of web2 when you feel the need for it.
For the project to work we need peopul to post there videos in full
screening format in places were RSS and direct/torrent downloads are
possabel - ie not youtube/goggle video or flash streaming sights.
As we will be developing the project we hope to incurage others to use
the same open source resources to setup complimentary/different views
onto this shared creative commons of activist/web2/new media video -
from there owen prospectives. We feel a diversity of voices are more
usfull than one over aching portal.
