Hi, we're on these lists because we're working on replacing corporate
media sites, capitalism as a whole, etc. what is apparently working
for you individually isn't going to help an indymedia site or the
network as a whole, which has criteria of membership about not making
money, engaging in commercial enterprise, relying on proprietary
software, etc.
one thing I was thinking, since you can already use free software to
play flv files, in the form of various media player browser plugins
(totem, VLC, kmplayer etc.):
you create a javascript library, similar to swfobject. give it a flv
URL and it detects flash and embeds the flash player, or if not
found, embeds the flv in some other browser plugin.. finally if no
plugin or no javascript, you just get a link to the video.
this means the free video players are supported, and at the same time
the 1000x more people who have flash can watch the video..
