just a small correction - while adobe's flash program isn't free,
there are two alternatives capable of decoding swf in the browser
which are:
http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash/
http://swfdec.freedesktop.org/wiki/
Hopefully, the somewhat unstable nature of these alternatives will
fully work themselves out in the near term future.
The real sticky issues with using flash video is the freeness of the
codecs (for example, mp3 is used as the flv audio codec), and the
freeness of the flash specification itself.
