But if that second step isn't done soon enough and Adobe have all the
Sklyarov's locked up, Microsoft have all the computers locked down,
IBM have exported all the hardware jobs and Novell signs deals with
them all, how are you going to share and communicate then?

Yes, that's another problem, but existance of other problems should
not make us discourage people from working on any problem they choose,
as long as we agree it is a problem that needs solving.  If you attack
someone for not agreeing with your priority, you usually lose someone
working on a problem - it's very rare that you'll convince them to
work on your priority problem instead.  I've learnt this the hard way.
