Hi imc-video,

well, ok, IP logging might be something that has to be checked - I do
not know, if it possible for them to turn ip logging off in apache
logs.

I will ask - there are also some buzarr new german laws that lead to
that demand anyway - web site admins might be acting unlawful logging
ip addresses, while government logs everything - so it is of interest
for many customers to know how NOT to log IP nowadays. crazy.

Another interesting thing came up: hosting a [sub-]domain on dreamhost
involves putting the domain name into their nameservers, at least this
is the standard procedure with the panel, probably they are able to
create the vhost without dns records manually if I ask for it, but via
panel vhosts are connected to NS entries.

OK, so I tried to setup the mirror and the panel said:

"Can't add domain: already in our DNS system"

surprisingly there is already indymedia.org in the dreamhost ns!

>dig @ns1.dreamhost.com indymedia.org

;indymedia.org. IN A

indymedia.org. 300 IN A 205.196.209.197

besides that this opens an interesting possibility of a DOS on
dreamhost customers I just wanted to ask here if anybody is involved
with the account, which has indymedia on its records?

of course mirror could be setup also on another domain, circumventin
this little quirk.
